Grand Opening of John Smoltz Strikeout Baseball USA Set for Friday, June 6 in Downtown Lansing
[LANSING, MI - June 4 2025 ] — Baseball fans of all ages are invited to celebrate the official launch of John Smoltz Strikeout Baseball USA on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Ferris Park in downtown Lansing.
This free, family-friendly community event will unveil an exciting new model for youth baseball—one that’s fast, fun, and accessible to all. Designed to remove traditional barriers to entry, Strikeout Baseball offers a dynamic and affordable alternative to conventional leagues by reimagining the game in a more compact, flexible format.
At the heart of the initiative is a miniature stadium that allows games to be played with as few as two participants. It’s a “show-up-and-play” model—no large teams, expensive equipment, or long seasons required.
“Growing up, baseball was a way of life. It’s incredibly exciting to bring this concept to Lansing and to see the impact it could have in growing the game for future generations,” said Jeff Lazaros, visionary behind Strikeout Baseball.
“I believe Strikeout Baseball will reinvigorate young people’s interest in this great game—giving them a quality, accessible alternative—and, frankly, offer a Field of Dreams in the shadow of the Capitol,” said MLB Hall of Famer John Smoltz, a key supporter of the initiative.
Born from the shared passion of Jeff Lazaros and John Smoltz, Strikeout Baseball USA is sparking a grassroots revival of youth baseball—bringing the game back to communities and making it available to all, right here in Michigan.
