The 2nd Annual Champions of the Heart Fundraising Gala brought together a powerful community of leaders, supporters, and changemakers for an unforgettable evening of inspiration, impact, and heart at the Breslin Center. The event, benefiting the Champions of the Heart mission, supports the organization’s life-saving work—providing hands-only CPR training, CPR manikins, and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to communities in need. The Melanated Business Alliance hosted a Youth Business Expo at the University Club of Michigan State University. This impactful event focused on empowering young entrepreneurs and was attended by 75-100 students in grades 9-12. The Expo provided attendees with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to start and grow their own businesses, fostering economic empowerment within the community. ATHENA WIN Evening of Empowerment is a night of comradery and collaboration that celebrated the 2023 ATHENA Leadership Award recipient, Julie Pingston (President & CEO Choose Lansing) and featured special keynote speaker, Tamira Chapman (Founder & CEO Storehouse) who enlightened and entertained men and women of all ages. The Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission is pleased to announce its 2024 Global Impact Awards. They will be presented at its 30th Anniversary Celebration of Global Diversity during an evening gala at 6 p.m. on September 14, 2024 at the Lansing Center in Downtown Lansing. Grit, Glam, and Guts begin in 2011 in Lansing, MI as a one-day event for girls and transformed into a movement to inspire, equip, and empower teens to navigate modern-day challenges. The first event was a one-day conference for teen girls with the goal of creating a safe space, create a sisterhood, and empowerment within a community. It has now expanded to include multi-partnerships in 3 cities, a week-long residential camp at Michigan State University, and after school programming. Michigan Premier Events was honored to manage Grits, Glam Gluts fundraising brunch.
