The Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission is pleased to announce its 2024 Global Impact Awards. They will be presented at its 30th Anniversary Celebration of Global Diversity during an evening gala at 6 p.m. on September 14, 2024 at the Lansing Center in Downtown Lansing. The theme is “A Celebration of Global Diversity.” The event will feature cultural music, food, artifacts, a global fashion show and authentic entertainment from their sister cities and other cities around the globe. Over the past three decades, Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission’s relationships around the world have served as pillars of friendship, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding. Invited guests will include ambassadors, consuls general, officials from our sister cities, congressional delegations and other officials from the US government. The Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission’s 30th Anniversary will be co-chaired by Commissioner Chris Holman, founder and CEO of Michigan Business Network and Commissioner Dr. Maxine Hankins Cain, President. Grit, Glam, and Guts begin in 2011 in Lansing, MI as a one-day event for girls and transformed into a movement to inspire, equip, and empower teens to navigate modern-day challenges. The first event was a one-day conference for teen girls with the goal of creating a safe space, create a sisterhood, and empowerment within a community. It has now expanded to include multi-partnerships in 3 cities, a week-long residential camp at Michigan State University, and after school programming. Michigan Premier Events was honored to manage Grits, Glam Gluts fundraising brunch.

Children Trust Michigan serves as a voice for Michigan's children and families and promotes their health, safety, and welfare by funding effective local programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect.

Annual Holiday Collaboration is Michigan Premier Events and Lansing Mosaic's annual event. About Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission The Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission is a non-profit organization with the goal of connecting Lansing to the rest of the world through a global citizen diplomacy network. The sister city approach to international exchanges is personalized, inclusive, and centered on citizen-to-citizen diplomacy. They develop and sustain programs aimed at strengthening global linkages. The LRSCC is affiliated with Sister Cities International, founded in 1956 by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, as the People to People program. The sister cities programs help foster increased international understanding. Lansing’s first Sister City relationship was formed in 1968, with Otsu, Japan. Guadalajara, Mexico was added in 1982. Saltillo, Mexico was added in 1994, Sanming, China in 1997 and Akuapim South District, Ghana in 1997. Asan, South Korea was added as a Sister City in 2008. During 2000, a special tie of friendship was acknowledged and endorsed by the LRSCC Board of Directors between Lansing and the community of Cosenza, Italy. In addition, a friendship tie was formed with the Tanzanian city of Dar es Salaam in 2005. The LRSCC works to bring about a deepened appreciation in our community for the beauty and unique strengths of the world’s myriad cultures.
